aggresive behavior 2007/08/10 03:08 Karma: 0
hi I am new here and have a very special rottie puppy. When I was approached to get her I was not told what shape she was in. Not that it would have made a difference. we are big in working with rescues. One of our dogs (a pit bull/boxer mix) came from a local rescue, our siberian husky mix came from a local humane society. I had a rottie before and was really wanting another one. So I agreed to take her. She was 7 wks old and only weighed 7 lbs and was very flea infested. Took us weeks to get rid of all the fleas on her. we immediately took her for a check up which she passed learily. The vet said to watch her for parvo. 2 days later we were back at the vet and she tested a high positive for parvo. unfortunately afterwards only one of her littermates survived the parvo. At any rate, we thought she was a fighter, and we were too. So we left her at the vet for over a week. He called daily with not very hopeful reports. Honestly, he didn't think she would make it. Even after we brought her home it was touch and go for another 2 weeks. But she is over it now, and doing great. The vet can't believe she is the same puppy. She goes back tomorrow for another vac., check up and set up spaying (and possible tail docking). When we brought her back home she had no food aggresions of any kind. She shared her food and toys. over the last few weeks she has developed a big food aggression, even though she has been being feed in her crate because she gets a different food. And at the same time she started deep belly growling, bearing teeth and snapping at us if we have to pick her up, or grab her collar.

Any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
