About our German
Rottweilers and us!
Vom Aztlan Rottweilers is located in Whittier, California a
suburb about 10 minutes East of Los Angeles. Our kennel name Vom
Aztlan (AZTLAN refers to California) tracing its roots back to
ancient times. Vom means "from " in German.
We are CODE of ETHICS breeders. We are members of the United
States Rottweiler Club (USRC), the American Rottweiler Verein
(ARV), Algemeiner Deutscher Rottweiler Klub (ADRK), United
Schutzhund Clubs of America (USA), American Rottweiler Club
(ARC) and local breed clubs.
All Rottweilers utilized in our breeding program are
imported or first generation born here at “vom Aztlan ”. All of our puppies
come from OFA (Orthopedic
Foundation for Animals) or it's equivalent
hip certified dogs.
We breed occasionally for
people seeking only the best German bred Rottweilers. Our adult
Rottweilers and Rottweiler puppies are sired by top show and working
rottweilers. Rottweilers
are a working breed and we specialize and breed only to the highest quality
working titled dogs. It is our goal to produce the finest quality
rottweilers, that posses correct structure, good temperaments, strong
working drives, and genetic soundness.
We love our rotties; they
are part of the family. Our life is built around them because of our love
for them.
Our dogs are good with children, yet protective of their home.
We strive to
produce the highest quality German Rottweiler puppies and be the most
accomplished exhibitor of German Rottweilers in
California.
Remember that many
breeders will tell you that European Rottweilers or European bloodlines are
the same or equal to German bred Rottweilers. This is not correct. Only
German born dogs have been bred by the strictest standards in the world.
Most European countries do not have required breeding standards. Their
breeding programs are inferior to German (ADRK) bred Rottweilers. In addition, beware of breeders in the US who tell you they breed
German
Rottweilers. Most do not – they breed European and/or American lines with a
few German dogs scattered in the pedigree. Please research before you buy.
Take your time do your homework. Remember the thrill of a quality purchase
last longer than the thrill of a quantity saved purchase.
The ZTP (Breed Suitability Test) is the Cornerstone of Rottweiler
Breeding
We are very proud that we follow strict ADRK German standards and breed
only fully titled dogs that posses ZTP (Breed and Character Test) and
Schutzhund (Temperament Test) titles. This all-encompassing test has
been used in Germany for decades and is considered the most important
real test in the young Rottweiler's life. In Germany, a Rottweiler that
has not passed this test may not ever be used for breeding!
Qualified ADRK judges evaluate the dogs and a written critique of the
entire test is provided to the owner. There are two parts to the ZTP.
The first part compares the dog to the FCI Standard, from the tip of his
nose to the tip of his tail. The ZTP is reported in the quarterly
DOGBASE Breed Book and stays with the dog for life. It appears on the
pedigree of all the dog's progeny.
The second part is a character (temperament) test. The dog is tested for
indifference to gunshots and for composure while moving within a group
of people. The dog must complete an abbreviated SchH1 routine, which
includes defense of the handler, and a courage test. The results of this
portion of the test are also reported in the DOGBASE Breed Book. If the
dog should not pass the second portion of the test, it may be retaken at
a later date as stipulated by the judge.
